If only I had stayed CONSISTENT!
Have you started your blog and were going so good and then all of a sudden you have writers block, you’re sick, your kids get sick, or you just plain old don’t feel like writing lately? Yeah, me too and I’m fairly certain that every blogger on the planet can relate to this sentiment. I often have several of these blocks, where I take long breaks from my blog and honestly I always regret it! I keep looking at my stats and the successes that I’ve had over time and I can’t help saying to myself, “if only I had stayed consistent”. So, I have come up with a list of tips that have helped me stay consistent even when my mind and body is saying “leave me alone!”. By the way, I absolutely LOVE LISTS, they save my life on a daily basis! Check out my blog post on LISTS! Also, if you haven’t started your blog yet, these tips would also be perfect for you keep in mind for when you launch! Let’s go!
Tips To Stay Consistent
Write Write Write
During those times when you ARE inspired and words just seem to form on the page, WRITE as much content as your fingers can handle! Obviously, you won’t need to publish them all at once, but you can save them in the queue for those times when your mind just refuses to formulate a single sentence!
Work in a comfortable positive environment
Where I write and create, makes a big difference in how well my content comes out. If I’m in a dark bedroom writing in my bed, I tend to get sleepy and mentally drifty so-to-speak. I have to be in well lit (preferably sunny) area to really get the motivational juices flowing! For you, it may be the dark and cozy space, but make sure that it is conducive to the success of your writing process!
Get Some SLEEP!
I cannot work when I’m tired! The whole time all I can think about is shutting my eyes! Have some coffee, tea, or what ever beverage “gives you wings”, but most importantly get some rest and observe how much more efficiently your mind works.
Get up Get out and DO SOMETHING!
Getting out and seeing different things and people always inspires me to write. When I’m holed up in the house, hibernating, I definitely run out of ideas and inspiration.
Get social!
I often find topics to write about when I’m perusing the net or social media. Something is ALWAYS trending and often times I can tie trending topics into whatever it is I want to write about.
Create a Content Calendar
If you create deadlines for when your posts, then it kind of forces you to get your articles out. That also lets your subscribers know when some of their favorite content will be posted!
Accept that you just may need a mental break
Sometimes you really just need to give your mind some time to reset. You can’t truly write about the things you love if you aren’t in the right frame of mind. Take a minute to ask yourself “how am I really doing?” I wrote an article about this very thing, Check it out here. But don’t be afraid to take a short break and rejuvenate yourself. Meditation and prayer are a great start and foundation.
So, with all of that said, let’s start the new year off right and get writing! Staying Consistent will help secure the longevity of your work!
