My face routine PLUS a diy wine mask!

Well, you guys kept asking and I’ve finally delivered! Here is my facial routine! Now, first let me just give a little bit of honesty here lol. 50% of the success of my skin is GENETICS and that’s just the plain old truth! BUT that other 50% is just as important if not MORE important. I constantly have to listen to my body with every season change in order to maintain my skin’s healthy glow!

The 1st key to Healthy Skin

That’s right the first key to having healthy glowing skin is to pay close attention to your body’s needs! Notice when you’re dehydrated, notice which seasons you’re the oiliest in, and of course be aware of your diet! The most important thing you can do for your skin/health is caring for yourself from the INSIDE out! Listen, I know how hard it is to maintain a healthy diet and quit the snacks! I’m the snack QUEEN! lol But having discipline in this area will absolutely save your skin a lot of stress! Now let me also give this disclaimer! I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN OR ESTHETICIAN OR DERMATOLOGIST! Everything written here is solely my opinion based on my own personal skin care experience! Now, you guys asked and I delivered! Daily face routine

Evening Face Routine

Remove Makeup – If I’m wearing makeup, I ALWAYS remove it with 100% pure virgin coconut oil! Yes, coconut oil! I’ve actually never use a makeup remover because I’ve discovered they just aren’t that nice to my skin. PLUS coconut oil is a natural antioxidant and naturally anti-bacterial too! This step is not just for makeup removal nor is this only for women! You hear that fellas! Coconut oil on your face with a hot towel, will smooth your skin all the way out!

Wash Face – Next I wash my face with Shea Moisture Black soap WITH my exfoliating gloves! This is very important and a MAJOR contributor to my smooth skin! These gloves can be purchased at your local pharmacy or dollar store even. The reason why the exfoliating gloves are the biggest key is because exfoliating gives your skin a daily reset! It will clear off any dead skin and smooth out your pores. With time and consistency, your skin will be as smooth as a baby’s booty!

Tone & Moisturize – Next I use a toner to keep my skin tone even. This is a DAILY step I NEVER skip! My favorite toner is Dickinson’s witch hazel with rose water. Simply add a few drops to a cotton swab and wipe your entire clean face with the cotton swab. Now moisturize with your favorite moisurizer that’s for your face only! The skin on your face is much more sensitive and exposed than the rest or your body, so you must use a moisturizer that is only for your face. I get my fave, charity pot, from LUSH cosmetics. And I use less than a pea sized amount each time.

Now you’re ready to add makeup or lay it down for the evening! In the morning just clean the crust from your eyes and add additional moiturizer if you’re feeling a little dry!

DIY WINE MASK!

Naturally being a Sommelier, I try to find every opportunity to include wine in my routines, including for my health. Did you know that red wine has health benefitting properties in it? YES, it sure does! There’s a chemical compound called polyphenols that live in the tannins or skins of red/black grapes used to make red wine. Polyphenols are anti-aging, antioxidant, wrinkle reducing, and great for lowering cholesterol! So yes, good quality red wine is good for you…..IN MODERATION! Lol Aviana and Wines & Words would never advocate an alcoholic lifestyle but your red wine definitely has its benefits!

Knowing all of this, I had to try this really cool red wine face mask that I randomly found online! The wine I used is a wine we sell in The Somm Shop called Luxx Merlot! Not only is it delicious, it worked perfectly for my wine face mask! Here are the ingredients!

  • 4 tbsp Red Wine
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • hand mixer

Mix all of these ingredients with your hand mixer until it becomes a whipped paste. Apply to your face and let sit for 15 – 20 mins, then rinse away. I also added my 24k gold eye patches and a couple cucumbers for my bags!

I actually have no negatives about the face mask! My skin felt great afterward, plus all of the ingredients were all natural and easy to access! I would recommend doing this mask once a week. I will update this post with my 30 and 60 day thoughts! You give it a shot too and let me know what you think! Also, if you have any awesome advice to share with us about your face routine and skin care tips, please write a comment below! And always SHARE SHARE SHARE! CHEERS!

A light bodied Merlot that’s velvety smooth on the tongue. Notes of cherries, spices, red berries and minerals, makes this red extremely well rounded and structured. A phenomenal stand alone that doesn’t need food to compliment these harmonious flavors!
