Acronym Wines
Fall has officially begun and I’m thrilled and you know why! If you’re new to Wines & Words, you will learn quickly of my obsession with dark red wines! They truly do something for me!. So, with that said, this weeks review is on Acronym Red Blend.
I couldn’t figure out the flavor profile on this one. It didn’t have chocolate notes or floral, or oaky, or anything I could readily identify! It perplexed me and not in the good kind of way. I guess in essence I felt, the flavor was a little flat and didn’t speak to or hold my attention. I did however enjoy indulging it in the bath! It is a great relaxation wine, as it warms you up from the inside out!
The good news is the price was excellent at my local grocery store (Kroger) on sale for $4.99, which is a great price, but of course you can’t expect much from a wine in this price range. So far I’ve only found a handful under $20 that have wowed me in the US. However, if you take a trip outside of the US, you’ll easily come across great wine at a very low cost.
Tasting Notes
The taste is firm and robust, the way I like a dark wine.
Food & Wine Pairing
A wine this robust with low complexity will typically pair well with beef jerky that’s not too spicy or sweet.

Of course, I tried this wine several years ago, so the not only have the bottles and packaging changed, I’m certain the taste of the wine has changed. Perhaps I will attempt to enjoy it again, but until then, give it a shot and see if you agree with my assessment!
You can purchase this wine pretty much in any local grocer as this brand is easily accesable. Click the link below to check out their site and purchase online if that’s your groove. CHEERS!
