LVE French Rosé by John Legend
As soon as Spring begins our minds immediately turn to brightly colored, fresh, new ANYTHING, and wine is no exception!
But of course Rosé is at the top of the list for our Spring sips. So we’ve decided that LVE Rosé by R&B singer/songwriter/etc., John Legend would kick off our April series of Rosé wines for “wine of the week”.
April Rosé Wine Series
LVE boasts a perfect palate pleaser for the start of Spring!
Languedoc, France delivering high quality grapes, as it always has.
John Legend and partner Raymond Vineyards clearly understood the assignment when seeking the perfect plots and vineyards to produce this refreshing Rosé.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault, to me, always makes for a fantastic well balanced Rosé. Many wine makers go with this blend and it typically delivers. This one also has a tiny bit of Carignan.
The expertly chosen grapes find their home in Languedoc, France, a region continuously solidifying its reputation as a viable terroir in viticulture. I remember watching a documentary about how so many poachers would use Languedoc wine and put their own labels on it claiming the brilliant wine as their own. Here we are many years later appreciating this region and it’s wine just like this delicious LVE Rosé.
Tasting Notes
Presenting with a color of pale salmon and light in depth. Honeydew melon on the nose, with slight hints of minerals in the background (which I love). On, the palate we have heavy notes of melons and green apple, with light notes of strawberry and apricot. Finishing with a nice long finish that not many Rosés can accomplish.
Food & Wine Pairing
Of course Rosés are great stand-alones in our opinion, but this Rosé will pair well with a fruit salad as well as a strawberry salad perhaps with nuts and feta or gorgonzola.
