Baron Fini, a delicious Pinot Grigio out of Valdadige, Italy. I tasted this during my studies for my WSET Level 1 certification in 2020.
Country: Italy Region: Val d'Adige, Trentino-Alto Adige Grape(s): Pinot Grigio ABV: 12.5
Nose: Light with notes of cheese and eggs
Palate: Off dry, high acidity with flavors of popcorn, butter, and Swiss cheese Pairing: Overall, very smooth for such an acidic wine, very cheesy notes, funky on the nose, but not on the palate. The flavors were quite balanced.
Feeling: This wine made me feel a connection to Italy. I did a little research into this region and I discovered that Trentino-Alto Adige is one of the most breathtaking regions in the world, thus adding this to my bucket list of wine regions to visit. The feeling word I would use for this wine is picturesque nostalgia.
