If you all have been following, we visited Deep Roots earlier this year for the Women in Wine event and I fell in love with the place! So much so that I wanted to learn more about the owner and the origins. So, I packed up my camera and joined owner Dana Gurela for a one on one!

I am a California Wine Appellation Specialist!

I discovered that she got her start in a winery in Napa Valley! What a privilege! This afforded her the opportunity to learn from some of the best wine makers and develop a deep passion for wine. Years later, Dana is now a Californian Wine Appellation Specialist! If you want to know all things Californian wine, she’s your girl! Although Dana got her wine beginnings in Napa, her “Deep Roots” were planted in Georgia! So, she returned with her knowledge and connections and opened her own market to share with her fellow Georgians!

In the beginning Deep Roots started off with just Californian wine but now has a plethora of wines from all over the US! What I was most impressed by was the charity wine that was featured in our interview such as ‘The Giving Kitchen’. In fact every year they have a fundraising event for the Max Gruver Foundation honoring the death of local student Max Gruver. This years event will be digital due to COVID 19 mandates. Click Here to purchase wine and donate to this worthy cause!

Speaking of COVID 19 mandates, Deep Roots has implemented the best social distancing practices ensuring that all guests will be able to safely enjoy their visit! With limited seating inside, plenty of outdoor space and their best feature: the SELF SERVE WINE MACHINES!! At Deep Roots you can pay for a self serve wine tasting in which you can try from over 32 different wines featured in the machines!

Truly, there is something for every palate and comfort zone here! I highly recommend you guys give this hidden gem a visit when you’re in the Atlanta area! *To make it even sweeter, Wines & Words followers and subscribers will get 10% off their purchases in store AND online with coupon code WNW10! Check out the YouTube video for the full interview with the talented and inspiring Dana Gurela, representing women in wine well!
